Professor Minerva McGonagall

History:
The only daughter of the pureblood Virginia Audra and the muggle-born Oliver McGonagall, Minerva was a bright child who showed her magical abilities early. At 11 she was sorted into Gryffindor, where she quickly rose to the top of her class through an almost obsessive love of studying. She did well in most of her classes, but she truly excelled in Transfiguration; by the time seventh year came, only her duties as Head Girl could get her out of the Transfig classroom or away from the textbooks. After graduation, Minerva worked for the Ministry for several years until the old Transfiguration professor at Hogwarts announced his retirement. She submitted her application the moment she heard, and, with her good reputation at the school, quickly got the job. McGonagall became the Head of Gryffindor in 1966; she’s now worked at the school for twenty years.
